Northwest Housing Alternatives is excited to welcome in the new year by introducing you all to Natalie Thompson. Natalie Thompson is joining NHA as our new Director of Programs. She will oversee the Homeless Intervention Services, Pathways, and Resident Services teams. Natalie will lead NHA’s program evaluation and outcomes reporting, develop and maintain service partnership agreements, engage in advocacy and related public policy, and support the NHA Resident Advisory Council.
“In the middle of this Covid pandemic, during an awakening and reckoning of racial equity, with an expanding discussion about individual rights, and as we continue to re-define our work at NHA to center and lift the voices of lower-income and marginalized people, we are grateful to have Natalie joining our staff team and directing our program work,” says Trell Anderson, CEO/Executive Director.
Natalie brings a wealth of experience in shelter and supportive housing program management, most recently as the Director of Programs for the San Francisco LGBT Community Center. Additionally, Natalie has served as Director of Programs at Shelters to Shutters in Vienna, VA. As a trained therapist, Natalie has direct experience providing drug and alcohol abuse rehabilitation, counseling, and case management. Starting early in her career as a teacher specializing in before and after school programs, Natalie has a comprehensive knowledge of direct service programs for individuals, families, and communities. As she currently serves on national and global boards of directors, bringing to NHA a broad perspective of programming and advocacy occurring across the country and around the world focused on LGBTQIA2+ issues.
Natalie offered, “NHA has a wonderful reputation in Oregon, is creating new and exciting ways to engage and support residents, and help families experiencing homelessness to find stable housing. It’s an experienced team, and I’m looking forward to doing my part to deepening NHA’s impact.”
