NHA Awarded for Sustainability Efforts

NHA Executive Director Trell Anderson holding the Earth Advantage award

Northwest Housing Alternatives is very excited to announce that we have been recognized by Earth Advantage with the 2022 Most Certified Units – Multifamily award!

“We are honored to be recognized by Earth Advantage this year,” says NHA’s Executive Director Trell Anderson. “Environmental sustainability is one of the two focused priorities outlined in our strategic plan because we know that the communities we serve are not only disproportionately impacted by climate change, but also stand to gain the most from cost savings due to energy efficient homes.”

Earth Advantage certifies homes to ensure they meet certain sustainability standards from design through construction and completion. In 2022, 215 units with an Earth Advantage certification came online and an additional 483 units currently under construction were also certified for a total of 698 homes.

By building sustainable processes and materials into the construction of NHA’s affordable housing properties, we are prioritizing the health of the residents who live there as well as the community and neighborhood at large.

We are thrilled to be working with Earth Advantage to do our part to address the climate-related challenges of the present and future and look forward to continuing this work in 2023.
