Northwest Housing Alternatives was just awarded $18.5 million for our next project – The Alta at NW 18th! This property will provide 144 new affordable homes, including 48 dedicated to seniors.

We will be working with Northwest Pilot Project and the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA) to provide appropriate services to the residents of The Alta once construction is complete.

Representatives from NAYA and Northwest Pilot Project as well as NHA board members Steven Phan and Rose Akin, as well as NHA executive director, Trell Anderson, celebrating the announcement.

The project was approved with a slate of others as part of the $258.4 million bond measure for affordable housing approved by voters in 2016. The Alta represents 10 percent of the bond’s total desired units in an ideal location.

“We are extremely grateful for Susan Emmons of Northwest Pilot Project for introducing us to the property owners Mark O’Donnell and Tim Ramis,” says Trell Anderson, NHA’s executive director. “The neighborhood advocated strongly with the City of Portland for affordable housing at this location, so we are happy for them and excited to deliver a great project everyone will be proud of.”
