Sisters is a vibrant, creative, and growing community nestled among the rugged peaks of the cascades and surrounded by biking and hiking trails that attract visitors from all over the state and country. Sisters also has an incredible wealth of artists, musicians, chefs, and other creatives that make it the cultural capital of Central Oregon. However, the shortage of housing that is affordable to folks working in the local culinary, arts, outdoors, and retail workforces is at a crisis stage and many businesses struggle to find and retain employees. Some families commute over an hour in each direction to make it to their jobs in town, while others are forced to live in the national forest outside of town in tents and RV’s.
Trinity Place will mark a new chapter in creating attainable and community focused housing for working individuals and families in Sisters. The property is located near employment centers, schools, a vibrant downtown, and a variety of community services. It will feature a community room, offices for property management and service providers, and outdoor spaces nestled among the junipers and ponderosa pines. Trinity Place is being designed to have unit types and income ranges that meet the needs of individuals and families working in the community. Construction began in December of 2025 with the property starting to receive its first residents in the spring of 2027. The entire building and grounds are being designed to meet the exacting standards of the National Green Building Standard (NGBS) program.
Project funding involves an innovative mix of new 501c3 non-profit bonds underwritten by Raymond James, ARPA funding from the City of Sisters (a “”first in”” source), Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) GHAP grant and Ag Worker Housing Tax Credit funds with Columbia bank as the purchaser of the credits, and the Roundhouse & Yarg Foundations providing land acquisition and predevelopment funding.
